Biography
Hi and welcome to my web appearance.
I’m Lucas Freise and consider myself an experienced Hard Rock/Metal drummer living in Hamburg, Germany. After finishing school I moved to Berlin to join the professional program at Drumtrainer Berlin, led by Dirk Erchinger. I learned a lot about what it means to become a professional drummer and worked on different styles, independence and technique. With that episode coming to an end I proceeded to study Musicology at the Humboldt University in Berlin. There I graduated with the bachelor degree.
Today I am a full member of two bands: Eyes Wide Open (Melodic Death Metal/Metalcore) and Servants To The Tide (Epic Doom Metal).
I have participated in numerous performances with all kinds of bands including festival and club appearances, international touring as well as in studio productions. I constantly work on my network and am well connected. My ability to focus and get familiar quickly with existing material enabled me to stand in for shows with bigger local bands such as EXA (Thrash Metal), Circles Of Malice (Melodic Groove Metal) and other local acts.
Since I began to pursue music on a more professional level I’m super proud of the releases and bands I contributed to.
Continuous improvement of my drumming ability is my greatest aspiration; I still am in close contact with heroes from his lectures at the Drumtrainer. Randy Black, who I consider my mentor and who also supported my first ever studio session, is to be named here as well as Dirk Brand and Alexander Landenburg. Another important influence is the Swedish drummer Jonas Ekdahl.
Describing my style: I have power and will be heard. The bands I worked with rely on my beat and timing. I am fully concentrated and professional. This can be seen in the good preparation of sessions and commitment to the music and the team. I would say that I am open minded, a team player and that my curiosity for new things and people will continue to bring me forward.
Apart from drumming in various bands I teach drums at various music schools and run my own festival called „Progress Begins Festival“ since October 2017 which is currently on an indefinite hiatus.
